Waukesha County's “50+ Something Demographic” is a key workforce asset contributing to growing businesses. We have the opportunity to leverage the experience, skills, innovative potential and managerial talent of those potentially exiting the workforce (in 2005 an estimated 28% of those ages 65-69 are in labor force). With so much emphasis nationwide on attracting and maintaining young talent, the skills and talents of our aging population in Waukesha County are often overlooked.
Overall the largest growth in labor force in all southeastern Wisconsin counties (+31,600 during 1990s) has been in Waukesha County, with 40% in management, professional and related occupations and 29% in Sales and office occupations. (Note: This data will soon be updated pending the release of 2010 census data).
With an average wage high relative to Wisconsin and surrounding counties, Waukesha County tends to retain quality talent. Our workforce has strong skill-sets in:
- engineering
- information technology
- managerial
- sales
- marketing
- human resources
- accounting
- tech-based knowledge clusters.
