WCEDC has six committees.
The committees that work to ensure efficient and effective services to business are the Revolving Loan Fund, Nominating, Communications, and Project Response committees.
The committees that work to guide the long-term strategies for growing Waukesha County and direction of WCEDC are the Executive and the Strategic Initiatives committees.
Executive Committee
- Consistent with its founding charter, the Executive Committee of the Board consists of the County Board Chairperson, the President of Waukesha County Technical College and three private-sector business people.
- The Executive Committee focuses on guiding the primary economic development strategies of the Corporation on behalf of Waukesha County, and ensuring the Corporation has the necessary resources to deploy those strategies.
- Chaired by the WCEDC Board President, Richard Smith (President, R.A. Smith National, Inc.).
- Committee members: James Dwyer (County Board Chairperson, Waukesha County Board Office), Shajan John (Managing Director, Mahattil International LLC), Barbara Prindiville (President, Waukesha County Technical College), Timothy Tully (Owner, Personnel Dynamics). Also attending, Bill Mitchell (Executive Director, WCEDC).
Nominating Committee
- The Executive Committee of the Board serves as the Nominating Committee for reviewing new Director nominations submitted by the current Board membership in each election cycle.
- Directors interested in submitting candidates for the Board, being considered as officers of the Corporation or participating in the annual nomination review process are welcome to do so.
Revolving Loan Fund Committee
- The Revolving Loan fund Committee oversees the administration of the loan program and consists of successful private business owners and experts from the finance, banking and legal professions.
- The Committee seeks loan applications from business that will create jobs, grow the tax base of Waukesha County and provide a community benefit to organizations that are recipients of revolving loan funds.
- Chaired by WCEDC Director Greg Bauer (Vice President, M & I Marshall & Ilsley Bank).
- Committee members: Kevin Bublitz (Shareholder, Schott, Bublitz & Engel, s.c.), Carolyn Engel, (Business Finance Manager, Business Lending Partners), Jennifer Hansen (President, Anderson Seal, Inc.), Bret Roge (Attorney at Law, Michael Best & Friedrich, LLP), Fred Sitzberger (President, Sitzberger Widmann & Co., S.C.), Timothy Tully (Owner, Personnel Dynamics), Michael Ward (Vice President / District Sales Manager, US Bank), Daryl Zigan (Owner, United Press & Graphics, Inc.). Also attending, Bill Mitchell (Executive Director, WCEDC).
Strategic Initiatives Committee
- Acts as an economic development "think tank" that will research, test and recommend deployment of WCEDC's strategic initiatives to the Board of Directors.
- The committee will identify collaborative partners that would be appropriate to the strategy.
- A first success in this approach was the Sustainability Advisory Team which guided the creation of WCEDC's sustainability initiative that ultimately led to the formation of Partnerships for Sustainability - now reorganized as the Smart Business Forum.
- Chaired by WCEDC Director Shajan John (Managing Director, Mahattil International LLC).
- Committee members are Ad Hoc. Also attending, Bill Mitchell (Executive Director, WCEDC).
Project Response Committee
- Assists WCEDC staff in developing a process to respond to inquiries from businesses considering relocating, expanding or starting in Waukesha County.
- The committee will analyze the current system, catalog the resources WCEDC provides or connects to, and recommend ways to improve and expand the quality of WCEDC and its partners' services to add jobs, companies and tax base.
- The committee includes representation from experts in real estate, financial services, technology, demographic/labor market analysis and workforce development/training.
- Chaired by Bill Mitchell (Executive Director, WCEDC).
- Committee members are Ad Hoc.
Communications Committee
- Advise WCEDC staff by recommending innovative communications strategies that build local and regional awareness of WCEDC services, outcomes and strategic initiatives in Waukesha County and southeastern Wisconsin.
- Identify and recruit partners such as associations, chambers of commerce and local economic development professionals that support the WCEDC mission to create jobs, businesses and tax base in Waukesha County.
- Provide recommendations that continuously improve WCEDC's websites, e-newsletters, presentation materials, and social media strategies.
- The committee includes representation from small-to-midsized businesses, WCEDC's sponsors, and communications experts.
- Chaired by Laura Monagle (Public Relations Director, Staples Marketing).
- Committee members are Ad Hoc. Also attending, Lee Patzer (Operations/Education Manager, WCEDC).
